QB1 will be conducting a free, invitation only Quarterback Combine on April 2nd in Columbia, South Carolina. This event is by invitation only and all quarterbacks desiring to attend will need to contact us by email at scvarsity@sc.rr.com for information.
Quarterbacks will go through a series of testing protocol prior to evaluation phase; the evaluation phase will include a lower body mechanics evaluation focusing on footwork and movement within the pocket and a throwing motion evaluation focusing on mechanics and the kinetic chain of the throwing motion from plant step to release.
"People always talk about combine testing and how kids do in this test or that," said QB1 founder Jim Baxter, "but at the end of the day, this is a passing game and we want to see the quarterback's capacity to process information, how they move with their feet and react in the pocket, and how the ball comes out of their hands."
One of the testing differences in this event and others around the country is that the players are not tested in the 40 yard dash but rather a 20 yard dash with a 10 yard split.
"The 40 is the most over rated testing event in the country," said Baxter. "We want to see some explosive speed in those short bursts where we see some of these quarterbacks operating in RPO (run-pass option) type of offenses."
Testing Protocol for Quarterbacks
"We are excited about this event," said Baxter. "Our goal with QB1 is to make players better through our training but to also get exposure for these kids and provide accurate evaluations and rankings to college coaches and media outlets that solicit our information. We are doing this as a free event to ensure every quarterback has an opportunity to attend and so that our rankings and evaluations can't be allegedly skewed. This event is not about money. It is about exposure for these kids and QB1 is willing to foot the bill to get that done."
If you are interested in receiving an invitation to this event, email scvarsity@sc.rr.comfor information.
There is a middle school class and high school class for this event.
